Bizzotto's Gallery-Caffé is located at 41 Market Street in the historic bayside town of Onancock, Virginia. The town dates from the original land charter of 1680. In the past, Onancock was an active port for watermen and steamboats to Baltimore – today it is home port for many pleasure boats and the Tangier Ferry. The Caffé opened in 1999 in a 1920's era building just two blocks from the harbor. It is the product of the creative energy of Bizzotto and is open for lunch and dinner services. The menu features international cuisine and local delicacies such as crab cakes and soft crabs in season.

Crockett Gallery

Willie Crockett, the artist at Crockett Gallery speaks with the strong dialect unique to Tangier Island where he was born. He paints with the strength of a lifelong intimate knowledge of the marshes where he grew up fishing and hunting waterfowl.

His paintings are recognized as being among the most honest portrayals of Chesapeake Bay drama and beauty. Best known for his wildlife art, Willie transmits to his painting an ever fresh view of the Eastern Shore landscape, the wildfowl and the marsh. An occasional easy transition into colorful abstracts and flowers speaks for the versatility of the painter and the sensitivity of the man. While best known for his glowing watercolors, Crockett has been working more recently in oils and acrylics as well.

Housed in the historic 1906 Steamboat Ticket Office, the "Yak Shack" is the perfect launching spot for exploring the sheltered tributaries of Onancock Creek by kayak or paddleboard for one hour to a full day. Bill and Mary Burnham also lead full day trips to the Seaside islands and to see the Chincoteague ponies. They do multi-day kayak camping on the Chesapeake Bay, Assateague backcountry with ponies, B&B-based Samples and lodged based trips to barrier islands.

The Burnhams are the authors of eight books including Hiking Virginia and Kayaking for Everyone. In the colder months, we lead trips in Florida and Costa Rica.

Historic Onancock School Community & Cultural Center, a 501(c)3 organization, is a 14 acre oasis in the heart of Onancock. The Onancock School property has been educating children on the Eastern Shore for over 150 years. The present building, built in 1921, continues to work toward transformation to a vibrant community center featuring the arts, music, history and opportunities to benefit all residents and visitors to Virginia’s Eastern Shore.

The historic school building, now ADA accessible with the recent installation of a lift and accessible rest room, is home to artisans, makers and entrepreneurs. Some working studios are open daily, others on weekends and by appointment. The Waterman’s Heritage Museum of the Eastern Shore is a must-see for a fun informational and educational walk through the Chesapeake Bay’s rich maritime history. We offer our ‘Gallery” events room for rent daily and weekends for meetings, parties or reunions. Outdoors, open spaces and ballfields are available for pickup games, frisbee, people & pet exercise and picnics. There is a 9-hole Disc Golf course, and our state of the art playground area is equipped with a handicap swing and soft rubber mulch. New additions in 2021 also include several shaded seating areas and a picnic area for gathering, sharing a meal or as an outdoor classroom. Ride a bike or walk the handicap-accessible path along the nature trail created by the Eastern Shore Master Naturalists. Be sure to stop by the observation deck along the Onancock Creek where wildlife is abundant.
