Set in France in 1889, the film follows the life of Dodin Bouffant, a chef living with his personal cook and lover Eugénie, beautifully portrayed by Juliette Binoche. They live in a beautiful house in the French countryside, where Dodin entertains friends and visitors. The kitchen is the beating heart of the house.
